Hackers Attack Lockheed Martin

According to the news agency Reuters, some unknown hackers have succeeded in breaking into the Network security systems of Lockheed Martin as well as some other US military contractor companies.

They breached security systems designed to keep out intruders by creating duplicates to “SecurID” electronic keys from EMC Corp’s RSA security division, said the person who was not authorised to publicly discuss the matter. Up to now it is unclear whether the hackers could reach to valuable information. But the networks of Lockheed and other military contractors contain sensitive data on future weapons systems as well as military technology currently used in battles in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Gmail Gives Power to the People Widget

Google  has introduced a new tool to the social  networking world using one of its strong suits: Gmail.
In the next couple weeks, Google will debut a feature for Gmail called the “People Widget.” The widget will appear to the right of messages and display information about contacts, including recent messages, shared documents, calendar events, statuses and, perhaps most striking, photos. Users can use widgets to schedule group meetings and online chats.

The widget will be rolled out in the next two weeks.

China Creates New Agency for Patrolling the Internet

BEIJING — A powerful arm of China’s government said Wednesday that it had created a new central agency to regulate every corner of the nation’s vast Internet community, a move that appeared to complement a continuing crackdown on political dissidents and other social critics.

But the vaguely worded announcement left unclear whether the new agency, the State Internet Information Office, would in fact supersede a welter of ministries and other government offices that already claim jurisdiction over parts of cyberspace.
